SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Gustavo Perez is a Partner in the Litigation Support and Business Valuation practice. With over eight years of experience in business valuations and commercial damages, Gustavo has gathered substantial experience working on a range of assignments related to valuation of closely held businesses in various industries.
He maintains a specialty in Financial Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 133, Accounting for Derivative Instruments and Hedging Activities, No. 123R, Accounting for Stock-Based Compensation and No. 141 and 142, Business Combination and Goodwill and Other Intangible Assets. This specialized knowledge enables Gustavo to assist clients in a variety of complex valuations, including but not limited to:
- Valuation analysis of privately held companies and intangible assets for purposes of financial reporting compliance; merger and acquisition; estate and gift tax; divorce proceedings; shareholder disputes; and other legal, regulatory and tax-related matters.
- Valuing complex stock options and embedded derivatives using Black Scholes Merton and binomial lattice models for compliance with FAS 133, FAS 123(R) and SEC requirements.
- In-depth financial analysis in large, complex litigation matters, fraud investigations and business valuations.
Gustavo possesses the ability to communicate complex valuation and litigation issues in both English and Spanish. He has managed litigation cases involving Spanish records produced by South and Central American companies.
He currently serves as the President of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) Miami Chapter, and was Chapter Treasurer from 2008 through 2009 and Secretary from July 2006 through June 2008.
